StoppaRed is the name of the leading brand of Self Defence UV Marker Sprays, developed by the iconic American self-defence company, Mace Security International. Because in many countries the laws consider Pepper Sprays to be a prohibited weapon Mace went to work to develop a self defence spray that was non toxic but effective in distracting an attacker and clearly marking the attacker for later police identification. Matthew Wilkinson in England was instrumental in the development of StoppaRed because he felt it necessary for Citizen to stop feeling helpless in the advent of a personal assault. He felt that it was wrong that citizens could do little to defend themselves, which resulted in a society that encouraged its innocent citizens to feel helpless. StoppaRed Self Defence UV Marker sprays are available today because we all should have a right to prevent crime and assist the Police bring offenders to justice. You and your family should be free to go about your daily routine without being unduly worried. The more people are prepared to help prevent crime and provide help in bringing the offenders to justice then the more we help make our communities safer for everyone.
Now StoppaRed products are carried every day by tens of thousands of informed citizens around the world where Pepper Sprays are not legal to own or use. What started in the UK has now spread to Sweden, France and many other countries including Australia. By creating a distraction and covering the offender in bright red dye the product has been used to give the user an opportunity to escape whilst at the same time given the police a far better chance of arresting that offender.
StoppaRed sprays are currently available in three different sized canisters making it easier for persons from all lifestyles to find a size that suits their unique requirements. The smallest is a size similar to that of some personal breath sprays or a lipstick applicator if you will. Whilst this size also contain the invisible UV dye, it still packs a steady stream of red goo, which unquestionably marks a would-be offender with a bright red spray. The medium size spray can holds a larger volume of spray and has a UV dye mixed in with it, which has the added benefit of being visible up to 7 days later under a UV light. There is an optional belt holster available and it is made from very strong nylon webbing with a Velcro flap making StoppaRed easily accessible at all times. The larger size would suit crowd control situations and or melees where there are multiple offenders breaking the law.
StoppaRed is not a toy nor is it to be used in any manner other than in a genuine self-defence (or in the defence of another), where the defender genuinely believes that the use of the spray is necessary and reasonable and is reasonably proportionate to the threat that the user genuinely believed to exist against themselves or another . This also includes the need to prevent or end the unlawful imprisonment of him, herself, or another.
